reading genesis: a delicate proposition

hey...as you are reading genesis this week (at least through chapter 4) just be glad you aren't reading it off of an egg!!

This egg (located in a museum in Israel) has the entire book of Genesis written on it...looks like hebrew to me..

I hope the dude who did this blew the yoke and whites out first...

I wonder about the dualism of this idea: egg (beginning of life) and genesis (begining of life)...

hopefully your bible is slightly easier to read...

coat drive

hey guys... its time to get the Coat Drive up and running... You may ask yourself "Coat Drive? What Coat Drive?" Well as a reminder every year we collect new and gently used coats from the church to distribute to the good folks at Linwood. We will "gift" them at an event at Linwood in December.

To get the ball rolling we need to set up boxes around the church for the coats. We are going to be meeting this thursday afternoon November 15th at 4pm to "decorate" and set up the boxes. If you would like to help out...bring a roll or two or wrapping paper and meet us upstairs in the 20's classroom...

Christmas is coming... ho ho ho...

Hey Cain, where's the beef?

Soooo.. we started taking a look at Genesis this week and had a good discussion yesterday in class... There's some amazing stories in Genesis but if you begin to ask WHY as you look at some of these stories you begin to see that there is a lot more to them then initially meets the eye. Next week we will be taking a look at Cain and Abel... Why did Abel's offering please God and Cain's fall short? Hmmmmm....
